APC cautions against politicising death of Accord Party member in Osun

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Ward 7, Esa-Oke, Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State, has warned against turning the death of Accord Party member, Aderogba Ajayi, popularly known as Rogba, into an opportunity for political point-scoring and propaganda.

The party also distanced itself and the Director-General of the Osun APC Campaign Council, Hon. Wole Oke, from the incident, describing attempts to link them to the killing as baseless, politically motivated, and unsupported by credible evidence.

Rogba was allegedly killed by unknown gunmen on Tuesday in the presence of his wife.

Addressing journalists at a press conference in Esa-Oke on Friday, Prof. Siji Olamiju, who read the party’s statement, said it was unfortunate that some political actors had allegedly rushed to exploit the incident for partisan purposes without allowing the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant security agencies to conclude their investigations.

“We are particularly concerned that certain individuals have hastily linked this unfortunate incident to politics without allowing the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant security agencies to conclude their investigations. Justice can only be achieved through a thorough, impartial and professional investigation, not through speculation, political rhetoric or media trials,” Olamiju said.

He urged Governor Ademola Adeleke and other public office holders to exercise restraint and allow law enforcement agencies to discharge their constitutional responsibilities independently and without interference or premature conclusions.

Olamiju also called on the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant security agencies to conduct a comprehensive, transparent and unbiased investigation by pursuing every credible lead and inviting all individuals whose testimonies might assist in uncovering the truth.

He added that while different narratives continued to circulate within the community over the circumstances surrounding Rogba’s death, only the outcome of a credible investigation should determine the true facts.
