APC clears Senator Alli for Oyo 2027 governorship race

A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Sharafadeen Alli on Saturday was cleared by the party’s National Screening Committee ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial election.

Senator Alli, who currently represents Oyo South Senatorial District, appeared before the APC screening panel in Abuja on Saturday and was subsequently given the green light to participate in the race for the party’s governorship ticket.

The development puts to rest speculations and criticisms reportedly being circulated by some aggrieved politicians against his ambition.

The senator’s clearance comes weeks after reports emerged that key stakeholders within the Oyo APC had aligned with an alleged endorsement of Alli by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Samonda, Ibadan.

Following the successful screening exercise, congratulatory messages have continued to pour in from party leaders, supporters and associates across the state.
