NDLEA arrests three disabled persons for alleged drug trafficking

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested three persons living with disabilities for alleged drug trafficking during separate operations in Anambra and Kwara states.

The agency also uncovered a N5.8 billion cannabis stash house in Lekki, Lagos, and dismantled a skuchies production factory in the state.

NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, said in a statement on Sunday that 60-year-old Romanus Nwabara was arrested at Akpaka Forest in Onitsha, Anambra State, with 250 grams of skunk packaged in retail sachets.

Babafemi added that another suspect, 25-year-old Amos Kenneth, was arrested in Ogbunike, Anambra State, with quantities of Tramadol, Diazepam, Exol-5 and skunk.

In Kwara State, NDLEA operatives intercepted a commercial vehicle along Bode Saadu and arrested a passenger identified as Usman Salisu after allegedly finding 6.3 kilograms of skunk concealed in a school bag.

The agency said operatives of its Special Operations Unit later raided a mansion at Lekki Phase 1 in Lagos and recovered 4,000 parcels of Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, weighing 2,326 kilograms and valued at N5.815 billion.

Babafemi said officers also intercepted a commuter bus along the Okene-Lokoja highway in Kogi State and recovered 76 jumbo bags of skunk weighing 766 kilograms while arresting three suspects identified as Mathew Omohove, Ebuka Desmond and Babangida Musa.

He added that NDLEA operatives raided a makeshift skuchies factory in the Ijora Badia area of Lagos, arrested two suspects identified as Bose Jamiu and Gbenga Gege, and recovered 270 litres of the substance alongside 106 grams of Tramadol.
