…as Governor Adeleke pays tribute

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the closure of its secretariat in Osogbo, the state capital, in honour of the National Director of Administration of the party, Hon. AbdulRauf Adekunle Adeniji, popularly known as ‘Congo’.

According to a statement issued by the State Secretary of the party, Alhaji Alao Olabisi Kamoru, the secretariat will be closed from Friday (today) through Tuesday and will reopen on Wednesday.

Kamoru stated that the party’s leadership took the decision following the tragic and untimely death of one of its foremost chieftains in the state.

Adeniji was reportedly kidnapped from his home in Abuja, along with some of his relatives, about three months ago.

Although news of his supposed release from the kidnappers’ den brought joy to his family, friends, and well-wishers three days ago, it turned out to be inaccurate.

The party urged members to use the period of the secretariat’s closure to pray for the repose of the soul of the deceased, who was killed in the prime of his life—at a time when his experience was most needed for the advancement of the progressive party. Members were also encouraged to pray that Almighty God grants the immediate family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss of this illustrious son of Ile-Ife.

Meanwhile, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the APC’s National Director of Administration, describing it as a great void for both the state and the nation.

In a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke extended heartfelt condolences to the Ooni of Ife and the entire people of Ile-Ife over the demise of one of their distinguished sons. He also conveyed his sympathy to the APC family in Osun and across Nigeria, praying that God Almighty grants the soul of Dr. Adeniji eternal rest.
