APC confirms WesternPost’s exclusive on primary postponement

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially announced the postponement of its presidential primary election initially scheduled for Sunday (tomorrow).
APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka announced June 6 to 8 as the new date for the presidential primaries in a statement titled ‘APC special convention for presidential primary postponed’ on Friday.
Morka said the postponement was as a result of the extension given to parties for the submission of list of candidates.
“Following the Independent National Electoral Commission’s extension of deadline for the submission of list of candidates by political parties, the All Progressives Congress hereby postpones its special convention for presidential primary from Sunday, 29 – Monday, 30 May, 2020 to Monday, 6 – Wednesday, 8 June, 2022,” Morka said.
WesternPost had exclusively reported on Friday that the ruling party had moved the date of the presidential primary election to June 6.
This was after WesternPost had also earlier in the day exclusively reported that the party was planning on shifting the date of the primary election for a second time, putting pressure on INEC to extend the deadline for primaries.
INEC eventually bulged, granting a six-day extension and giving the APC an opportunity to further move forward its presidential primaries.
