APC forum postpones policy roundtable over Ministers’ absence

A group within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), known as the Professionals Forum, has announced the postponement of its planned policy roundtable earlier scheduled for Thursday, April 24, in Abuja.

The high-profile event was designed to provide a platform for the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, and the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Mohammed Ali Pate, to present the Tinubu administration’s achievements over the past two years. It was also expected to feature a panel session assessing the administration’s mid-term scorecard.

However, in a statement issued over the weekend, Chairman of the Forum’s Board of Trustees, Dr. Isa Yuguda, explained that the ministers would be unavailable due to their participation in the Spring Meetings of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) taking place in Washington, D.C.

“We were hopeful that the Finance and Health Ministers would still make out time to attend our roundtable, but it has now been confirmed that their presence is needed for a series of key meetings in Washington scheduled for the same day,” Yuguda said.

He acknowledged the importance of Nigeria’s active participation in international economic and health policy discussions, noting that the outcomes of those engagements would enrich the rescheduled forum.

A new date for the event, Yuguda added, will be communicated in due course.
