APC leaders endorse Abiodun for Ogun East Senate race

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, on Tuesday received a significant political endorsement as leaders, delegates, and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun East Senatorial District unanimously adopted him as the consensus candidate of the zone for the 2027 senatorial election.

The endorsement, which party leaders described as a strategic move to ensure quality representation and sustain unity within the APC, was witnessed by prominent chieftains of the party, including the APC’s consensus governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Olamilekan Adeola, alongside other influential stakeholders across Ogun East.

Also present at the gathering were former deputy governors Yetunde Onanuga, Segun Adesegun, and Gbenga Kaka, the Ogun State APC Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, Deputy Chairman, Chief James Dina, Chairman of Ogun East Senatorial District, Senator Lekan Mustapha, and the APC Chairman in Ogun East Zone, Dr. Adeleke Ogundoyin.

Speaking during the presentation, former Deputy Governor Segun Adesegun said party members across the district had collectively resolved to endorse Governor Abiodun as the APC consensus candidate for Ogun East Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 elections.

Senator Lekan Mustapha stated that the adoption of Governor Abiodun reflected the collective will of the people of Ogun East, noting that the decision was aimed at guaranteeing effective and quality representation for the district at the National Assembly.

In his remarks, the Chairman of APC in Ogun East, Dr. Adeleke Ogundoyin, formally presented the Governor to the Ogun State APC leadership, urging the state chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, to forward Abiodun’s name to the national secretariat of the party as the official APC flag bearer for the senatorial district.

Responding to the endorsement, Governor Abiodun expressed appreciation to party leaders, stakeholders, and delegates for the confidence reposed in him, describing the consensus arrangement as a demonstration of unity, political maturity, and shared commitment to the development of Ogun East and the state at large.

The governor also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the support extended to Ogun State since the inception of his administration, while praising APC leaders in Ogun East for prioritising cohesion and stability within the party.
