APC leaders, Governors pledge stronger grassroots mobilisation for Tinubu’s agenda

Leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress and governors elected on the party’s platform on Tuesday reaffirmed their commitment to deepening grassroots mobilisation in support of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The resolution was reached at the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) Renewed Hope Ambassadors Summit 2026, held at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja.
Representing the President at the event, Vice President Kashim Shettima said the administration is moving from a phase of economic stabilisation to accelerated growth in 2026, anchored on a proposed N58.18 trillion budget.
“As we advance into 2026, our focus shifts from stabilisation to acceleration,” Shettima told party leaders and members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors. He noted that the 2026 budget features record capital expenditure, the largest allocation to national security in Nigeria’s history and what he described as prudent revenue projections aimed at strengthening economic resilience.
The Vice President said recent tax reforms were introduced to protect vulnerable Nigerians, encourage enterprise and improve transparency in public finance. He added that an executive order on remittances to the federation account was designed to safeguard revenues, eliminate duplication and curb waste.
According to him, the administration’s early policy decisions, though difficult, have restored fiscal credibility and laid the foundation for long-term growth. He pointed to moderating inflation, easing fuel prices and a more stable currency as signs that reforms are yielding results. He also said Nigeria attracted five of the seven major investment decisions announced in Africa in 2025.
Shettima, however, stressed that reforms would only succeed with public understanding and participation, identifying communication gaps as a key challenge. He charged members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to take the government’s message beyond conference halls to wards, markets and campuses, counter misinformation with facts and serve as a feedback channel between citizens and government.
The Vice President also called for reconciliation among party leaders, citing tensions in Benue State, and urged unity to advance development efforts.
