.. presidential primary to hold May 23

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced a major revision to its timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 general elections.

The adjustment, unveiled after a meeting at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, is aimed at ensuring full compliance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999, as amended), the Electoral Act 2026, and updated guidelines issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Addressing journalists after the meeting, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Duro Meseko, explained that the changes were necessary to align the party’s internal processes with evolving legal and regulatory requirements.

According to the revised timetable, the APC presidential primary, earlier scheduled for May 15, will now hold on Saturday, May 23, 2026, while dates for other elective positions have also been adjusted.

The party further announced that expression of interest and nomination forms for all elective positions will be available to all eligible party members, reaffirming its commitment to an inclusive process.

Meseko, who spoke alongside the party’s national leaders of persons with disabilities (PWDs), including Tolu Bankole, disclosed that the sale of nomination forms will commence on Saturday, April 25, and end on Saturday, May 2, 2026.

He added that the deadline for submission of completed forms has been fixed for Monday, May 4, 2026, while the screening of aspirants for all positions—from State Houses of Assembly to the presidency—will take place between May 6 and May 9, 2026.

The party also outlined its primary election schedule, with House of Representatives primaries slated for May 15, followed by Senate primaries on May 18, State House of Assembly on May 20, governorship primaries on May 21, and the presidential primary on May 23, 2026.
