APC protesters give leadership 24-hour ultimatum over Assembly primary in Osun

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State on Thursday issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the party leadership over alleged manipulation of the State House of Assembly primary election results.

The aggrieved members, who staged a peaceful protest at the APC state secretariat in Osogbo, demanded the release of what they described as the authentic results of the Obokun State Constituency primary election.

They called on the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, and the Osun APC Chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, to urgently intervene and ensure that the genuine results of the election are upheld.

Speaking during the protest, party chieftain Muyiwa Adewale said members would not accept any attempt to impose a candidate on the constituency.

“We all went to the field and the people voted. But when it got to the stage of final submission, the story changed. That is why we are protesting. We want the party leadership in the state to act within 24 hours. We have submitted our complaint letter at the secretariat and we believe it will get to them,” he said.

Also speaking, APC chairman in the Local Council Development Area covering Wards 6 to 10, Oyewole Oyebamiji, alleged that Oluwagbemiga Falope, popularly known as Faloo, won the primary election before the results were allegedly altered.

According to him, the “original” result showed Falope polling 2,594 votes against 2,020 votes scored by the other aspirant.

He further accused some party leaders of abandoning the long-standing power-sharing arrangement between the two constituencies in Obokun Local Government.
