APC releases timetable for bye elections, sells senate forms for N20m

The All Progressives Congress has released its timetable for the three national assembly and other state assembly elections announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The timetable was released by the National Organising Secretary of the party, Sulaiman Argungu on Monday.
INEC had fixed February 3 for the bye elections.
The timetable released by the APC showed that sale of nomination, expression of interest and delegate forms will commence on Wednesday, December 27 to Tuesday, January 2, 2024, while January 3, 2024 is the last day for submission of completed expression of interest, nomination forms and delegates nomination forms with accompanying documents.
The timetable also showed that the composition of screening, screening appeals, delegate election, delegate appeal, primary elections, primary elections appeal committees is scheduled for January 2, with the screening of all aspirants on January 4 and screening appeals on January 5.
The primary elections for the various bye elections are on January 6, while the primary election appeals are slated for the next day. The party will review and collate the list of candidates on January 8, while the submission of candidates to INEC portal will be on January 9 and 10.
The party also fixed prices for the forms for the various positions being vied for.
For the Senatorial election, the expression of interest form costs N3 million while the nomination form costs N17 million, while aspirants vying for a seat at the House of Representatives will buy expression of interest forms for N1 million and nomination forms for N9 million.
Expression of interest forms for house of assembly elections cost N500,000, while nomination forms cost N1.5 million.
Recall that Senate President, Godswill Akpabio had declared vacant the senatorial seats for Ebonyi-South and Yobe East after Senators Dave Umahi and Ibrahim Gaidam resigned to take positions as ministers in the Federal Government.
Member representing Akoko North East, North West in the House of Representatives, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, also resigned to become a minister.
