APC tackles ADC over criticism of Buhari’s state burial

By Kunle Sanni –

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has lashed out at the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for its criticism of the state burial given to the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing the comments as “insensitive and unacceptable.”

In a statement on Saturday, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said the ADC’s accusation that the Tinubu administration was politicising Buhari’s death was “spooky, unconscionable, and shameful.”

Morka said the ADC’s remarks during a national period of mourning reflected a disregard for tradition and decency, adding that it exposed the party’s desperation for relevance.

“It has cut its own portrait as a party of mindless political dregs, ready to say anything in pursuit of attention,” he stated.

The APC questioned what alternative action the ADC expected, asking whether President Tinubu should have denied Buhari the honour of a dignified state burial or withheld support from his grieving family.

The party said the President demonstrated compassion and patriotism by honouring his late predecessor, describing Buhari as a friend, political associate, and a leader who served the nation with dedication.

It called on Nigerians to reject what it termed the ADC’s “band of political marauders,” accusing the opposition party of spreading falsehood and disunity during a time of national grief.
