APC unveils comprehensive schedule for nationwide congresses ahead of 2026 convention

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released a detailed timetable for its 2025/2026 nationwide ward, local government, state and zonal congresses, which will culminate in the party’s National Convention.

The schedule was released on Saturday by the APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, via his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle.

According to the timetable, which Basiru said was issued in line with Articles 11 and 17 of the APC Constitution, the exercise is aimed at electing party officials at all levels of the party structure across the country.

The process will commence with the launch of the membership e-registration exercise on Monday, December 1, 2025, which will run until January 30, 2026.

This will be followed by the issuance of notices of congresses to state chapters and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on February 2, 2026.

Purchase and submission of nomination forms for ward and local government area (LGA) congresses are scheduled to take place from February 4 to February 9, 2026. Screening committees for ward and LGA positions will be inaugurated on February 10, while screening of aspirants will hold from February 11 to February 13.

Ward congresses are fixed for Wednesday, February 18, 2026, with appeals arising from the exercise slated for February 19. LGA congresses, including the election of three delegates—at least one of whom must be female—to the National Convention, will take place on February 20, while appeals will be heard on February 21.

At the state level, the purchase of forms for state executive positions is scheduled for February 23 to February 27, 2026. Screening and appeals for state executive positions will be conducted in late February and early March, with state congresses holding on Saturday, March 7, 2026. Appeals from the state congresses will be entertained between March 9 and March 11.

The party will then proceed to the zonal level, with the purchase and submission of forms for zonal congresses scheduled for March 12 to March 17, 2026. Zonal congress committees will be inaugurated on March 18, while screening of aspirants will take place on March 19 and March 20.

Zonal congresses across the six geopolitical zones are fixed for Saturday, March 21, 2026, while appeals arising from the exercise will be heard on March 23. The designated zonal centres are Ibadan for the South West, Enugu for the South East, Rivers/Cross River for the South South, Kaduna for the North West, Gombe/Bauchi for the North East, and Nasarawa for the North Central.

The timetable further shows that the APC National Convention is scheduled to hold from Wednesday, March 25, to Saturday, March 28, 2026.
