Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Taofeek Arapaja, has formally entered the race for the 2027 Oyo governorship election after submitting his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms.
The forms were submitted on Monday, marking his official declaration to contest the party’s ticket ahead of the next electoral cycle in Oyo State.
Arapaja, who currently serves as PDP National Secretary of the Interim National Working Committee, submitted the documents to the party’s National Organising Secretary, Dakas Shan.
His submission signals his readiness to compete for the PDP governorship ticket, further shaping early political alignments within the party in the state.
Supporters present during the exercise expressed confidence in the PDP’s prospects, chanting the party slogan, “PDP… Power to the People.”
Arapaja remains one of the key political figures in both the Oyo State PDP structure and the party’s national leadership.
His entry into the race is expected to intensify political consultations and internal negotiations ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
