Former Deputy Governor of Oyo State and National Deputy Chairman (South) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Taofeek Oladejo Arapaja, has held a closed-door meeting with the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the state, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, in Abuja ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting, which took place on Tuesday, also had in attendance Alli’s running mate, Hon. Soji Michael Adedeji, and the APC’s Oyo South senatorial candidate, Aderemi Oseni. It brought together prominent figures from the state’s two major political parties as political consultations ahead of the 2027 polls continue.
Oseni disclosed the meeting in a statement shared on his official social media page, describing the engagement as cordial and productive. He said discussions focused on issues affecting Oyo State rather than partisan interests.
According to him, the meeting centred on peace, unity, good governance and sustainable development, stressing that political leaders must continue to engage in constructive dialogue for the benefit of the state.
“Earlier today in Abuja, the nation’s capital, I had the privilege of joining the former Deputy Governor of Oyo State and National Deputy Chairman (South) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), H.E. Ambassador Taofeek Oladejo Arapaja; the Governorship Candidate of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sen. Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli; and his running mate, Hon. Soji Michael Adedeji, for a private meeting,” Oseni said.
He added that although participants belonged to different political parties, their conversation remained frank and centred on “the peace, unity, good governance and sustainable development of Oyo State.”
Oseni maintained that the progress of Oyo State should remain a common objective for political leaders regardless of party affiliation. He called for sustained collaboration and partnerships that would promote development and improve the welfare of residents.
The meeting comes amid increasing political consultations and realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, with stakeholders across party lines stepping up engagements as preparations for the polls gather momentum.
