Aspirants fault Akoko South West/East APC primaries

The declaration of Gboyega Adefarati as the winner of the All Progressives Congress house of representatives primary election in Akoko South West/South East federal constituency, Ondo State has been met with strong opposition from the aspirants

They accused the party officials of conniving with the former agric commissioner in Ondo State to move the primary election which was meant to hold at St. Patrick’s in Oka Akoko to the Dome Centre in Akure.

One of the aspirants, John Adaniken who was at the Dome, dissociated himself from the exercise, calling it illegal.

According to him, other aspirants and the real party delegates were waiting for the officials at Oka. He thereafter left the venue after his address.

Another aspirant, Adeyeri Stephen Kunle, ASK said the move was by some party members to disenfranchise the party delegates at the primaries.

Adeyeri said the atmosphere was peaceful and all delegates were ready to participate in the process that will produce the flagbearer of the APC in the general election, saying there was no election in Oka.

He condemned in strong terms the style of one Gboyega Adefarati who was not ready for the free, fair election describing such as undemocratic.

“We were reliably informed that one Gboyega Adefarati in connivance with some party supporters loyal to him went to conduct an illegal primaries at the Dome Event Center in Akure, while other aspirants are here in St. Patricks, Oka, the venue of the party primaries. It is an exercise in futility and it will not see the light of the day because no primary took place here in Oka.”

Other aspirants who vied for the house of reps seat are incumbent Ade Adeogun and Victor Ategbole
