ASUU strike: NANS protest in Abuja, other states

National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), on Monday, staged protests in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory and some other parts of the country over the lingering strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.
National President of NANS, Sunday Asefon, with other students, converged at Unity Fountain in Abuja, displaying various placards.
Protests were also held in other states including, Nasarawa, Kano, Plateau Niger, Taraba, Ekiti, Oyo among others.
Speaking to newsmen at the Abuja protest, the NANS president said the students intend to storm the Federal Secretariat and then proceed to the National Assembly.
Last Tuesday, the association issued a one-week ultimatum to the Federal Government to resolve its disagreement with ASUU or face a national mass action by Nigerian students across the country.
Asefon said the students would block some major roads in the nation’s capital if the government and ASUU fail to resolve the issues by last weekend.
