The Credit Corporation of Nigeria (CreditCorp) has announced the disbursement of consumer credit facilities to more than 100,000 Nigerians, including about 35,000 federal and state civil servants.

The company’s Chief Executive Officer, Uzoma Nwagba, made this known on Tuesday while briefing State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Nwagba explained that barely six months after securing its seed funding, CreditCorp has already signed partnership agreements with 23 licensed financial institutions to expand access to credit under the National Consumer Credit Scheme.

He added that there are “hundreds more in the pipeline” as part of efforts to scale up the programme.

“We got our funding a little over six months ago. As of today, we have signed on 23 financial institutions and delivered credit access to more than 100,000 people,” he said. “Of that total, roughly 35,000 are federal and state civil servants.”
