Atiku denies reports of retirement from active politics

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has dismissed reports circulating online claiming he has stepped away from active politics, describing the information as false and misleading.
In a statement released by his media office, the former presidential candidate denied holding any meeting with national stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) where such a decision was allegedly taken.
According to the statement, Atiku’s only recent political engagement with ADC members was a meeting with party stakeholders in Adamawa State last Thursday, not at the national level as claimed in the reports.
The media office stressed that a decision as significant as retiring from politics would not be communicated through rumours or unnamed sources but would instead be officially announced through the appropriate channels.
It further alleged that the report appears to be part of a deliberate disinformation campaign aimed at creating confusion and weakening political momentum.
The statement also suggested that political opponents may be behind the narrative, claiming the development reflects growing concerns among anti-democratic elements over what it described as an emerging national movement to address the country’s current challenges.
Atiku’s media team therefore called on his supporters, ADC members, and Nigerians to ignore the report, describing it as fake news, and urged them to remain committed to what it called the collective goal of rebuilding the country.
