JUST IN: Shettima visits El-Rufai, offers condolences over mother’s death

Vice President Kashim Shettima on Monday visited former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, at his Abuja residence to condole with him over the death of his mother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai.

The Vice President described the deceased as a woman of strong values who played a significant role in shaping her family, noting that her death was a great loss not only to her immediate family but to all who knew her.

Hajiya Umma El-Rufai reportedly died in Cairo, Egypt, on Friday after a brief illness at an advanced age.

During the visit, Shettima offered prayers for the repose of her soul and asked God to grant the El-Rufai family the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.

President Bola Tinubu had earlier sent his condolences to the former governor, describing the loss of a mother as painful and praying for the peaceful repose of the deceased.

Hajiya Umma has since been buried according to Islamic rites following funeral prayers attended by family members, friends and political associates.
