Atiku, Tambuwal, Imoke hold closed-door talks with Obasanjo

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Monday led a delegation to meet with ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo at his hilltop residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Atiku, who was accompanied by former Cross River State Governor Liyel Imoke and former Sokoto State Governor Senator Aminu Tambuwal, engaged in a private discussion with the former president.

While details of the meeting remain undisclosed, sources suggest it is part of ongoing consultations among opposition figures strategizing for the 2027 general election.

The meeting comes amid increasing political realignments as parties and key stakeholders strategize for the next electoral cycle.

Atiku, who was the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023, has been actively engaging political allies and other influential figures in recent weeks.

Obasanjo, a two-term president from 1999 to 2007, remains a significant voice in Nigeria’s political landscape and is frequently consulted on national and political matters.

More details on the meeting are expected to emerge as political activities intensify in the coming months.
