Aviation Minister to address union concerns over revenue deductions

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo SAN, has acknowledged the concerns raised by aviation sector unions regarding the Federal Government’s decision to deduct 50% of internally generated revenue from aviation agencies at the source. The unions have expressed fears that this deduction negatively impacts investments, maintenance of critical infrastructure, and the overall operations of these agencies.

In a statement released on Friday, Minister Keyamo emphasized the importance of the issues brought forward by the unions, recognizing the critical role that aviation workers play in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and smooth operation of the industry.

He assured the unions that the Ministry is committed to addressing these challenges in a way that maintains the viability and sustainability of the aviation sector while upholding the highest standards of service delivery.

The Minister also conveyed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is keenly aware of the need for improvements in the aviation sector and will carefully consider the unions’ demands. The government aims to find a balanced solution that meets both its fiscal requirements and the operational needs of aviation agencies.

Minister Keyamo appealed to aviation workers to remain calm and maintain industrial peace as the government works diligently towards an amicable resolution. He expressed gratitude for their patience, understanding, and ongoing dedication to the sector, reaffirming the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring a conducive work environment for all stakeholders.
