Lukman Sulaiman Arohunfale, the Baba Oba of the Oyotunji African Village in South Carolina, USA, and a respected socialite and traditionalist from Oyo town, has passed away.
Sources in Oyo confirmed his death on Saturday night.
The development comes just days after Arohunfale accused the newly installed Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty Oba Akeem Owoade, of allegedly ordering palace guards to assault him during a recent courtesy visit.
The Oyo palace, however, had previously dismissed the allegation as unfounded.
It was also gathered that the late Baba Oba had been battling ill health prior to his demise.
As of press time, the Alaafin’s palace has yet to issue an official statement regarding his passing.
Further details will be provided as they emerge.
