Babayemi calls on PDP Appeal Committee to nullify Adeleke’s guber primary election results

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo

The factional governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, Prince Dotun Babayemi,

has submitted a petition to the national secretariat of the party, Abuja for the nullification of the governorship primary that produced Sen. Ademola Adeleke, as its candidate.

The petition, which was sighted by Westernpost, dated 10th March, was addressed to the National Chairman, Dr. Iyorcha Ayu.

Babayemi alleged in the petition that the primary held at Osogbo City Stadium on March 8, was characterised with illegalities and irregularities.

He urged the appeal committee to nulify the primary and the results thereof.

The petition said: “There was a valid court order issued by the Osun State High Court sitting in Ijebu Ijesa on March 3rd, 2022 in suit number HIJ/6/2022 between Adedokun Ademola and others as plaintiff and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and INEC as defendants.”

The petition also said that the court relying on an earlier decision on November 22, 2021 issued an order of interim injunction via an exparte order valid for 7 days on March 3rd, 2022 that the applicants are the validly elected delegates from the Osun State PDP congress in 215 wards elected on September 25th, 2022 congress and should therefore be the delegates to the state congress and gubernatorial primaries to be held on March 08, 2022.

In the petition, Babayemi also said: “The Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State and chairman of the electoral committee

instructed his agents to go to the National Secretariat if they wanted to address any

issues.

“My agents thereafter were assaulted and had to leave the stadium for fear of their safety and threat to their lives.

“This appeal committee should therefore nullify the alleged primaries and results thereof as our great party PDP is a law abiding entity in Nigeria that is on a mission to ‘Rescue Nigeria'”.

It would be recalled that the party held parallel governorship primaries on Tuesday in Osogbo.

At one of the primaries held at the Osogbo City Stadium, under the supervision of Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, Sen. Ademola Adeleke was declared the winner.

At another primary held at the Women and Children Development Initiative Foundation (WOCDIF), Osogbo, there were no representatives from either the party or INEC. Prince Dotun Babayemi, was declared the winner of that primary.
