Armed bandits have invaded Igbesi community in Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State, abducting the traditional ruler, Oba Moses Oyinloye Iwedunmoye I, the Kabiyesi Onigbesi of Igbesi land.

Igbesi, a community within Oke-Onigbin town, is located in the Kwara South senatorial district.

The attack reportedly occurred around 11 p.m. Saturday, when the armed men stormed the community and abducted the monarch.

According to a local source, the traditional ruler was taken to an unknown location during the attack, although it was initially reported that some other residents were also abducted.

As of the time of filing this report, the exact number of victims and the whereabouts of the abducted monarch remained unclear.

However, the Kwara State Police Command confirmed the abduction of the traditional ruler, while dismissing reports that other residents were also kidnapped.

The state Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, said efforts were underway to rescue the monarch, adding that reports of attacks in the state within the past 24 hours were inaccurate.

“The narrative of attacks within the past 24 hours is far from the truth; nothing of such,” Adekimi said.
