Tinubu renews tenure of NTA DG, NAN MD

President Bola Tinubu has approved the renewal of the tenure of the Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority, Abdulhamid Salihu Dembos, and the Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria, Ali Mohammed Ali, for another three years.

The renewal will take effect on October 20, 2026, following the completion of their first three-year tenure.

Tinubu appointed Dembos and Ali to head the NTA and NAN respectively on October 20, 2023.

Dembos, a former National President of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Art Workers Union, joined the NTA as an announcer at its Kaduna station in 1989 after completing his National Youth Service.

He subsequently rose through the ranks, serving as General Manager of NTA Lokoja and NTA Kano, before retiring in 2017 as the Acting Zonal Director of NTA Kaduna Network Centre.

He later served as the NTA’s Executive Director of Marketing.

Ali, a veteran journalist and media manager with more than three decades of experience, holds a degree in English from Bayero University, Kano.

He also obtained a graduate degree in International Affairs from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communication from Bayero University.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said Tinubu urged the two chief executives to justify his confidence in them.

The President also charged them to remain committed to the mandates of their respective organisations and support the promotion of his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
