BBN Season 11: Abi secures HOH position twice as Gambit era closes

By Damilola Akinwale –

Big Brother Naija Season 11 housemate Abisola Ayoola, fondly called Abi, has won the Head of House (HOH) title for the second time in the competition, while Flora and Aikou have been released from their Gambit roles and Biggie has placed the remaining housemates up for possible eviction.

Abi’s victory came after she defeated other housemates in the HOH games on Monday. The challenge featured a series of elimination rounds, with housemates gradually dropping out until only Abi and Gerard remained.

This week also comes with a major twist to the HOH privileges. Unlike previous weeks, there was no Lucky Dip for the Loft. The Head of House Loft now belongs directly to the HOH, making Abi the first Head of House this season to enjoy the Loft privileges herself. Abi subsequently chose Temi Nkem to join her in the Loft.

Another change to the HOH format in Week Six is that the current winner is eligible to participate in the following week’s HOH games, unlike in previous weeks when an outgoing Head of House could not immediately compete again.

Meanwhile, Bells became the Benchwarmer again, a position that comes with punishments, including washing the toilets and wearing a designated outfit while sitting on a designated bench in the house until another Benchwarmer emerges.

The Benchwarmer position was determined through a random process. Biggie called Yusuf, Bells, Ricky, Aikou, Nomy and Sheba, with each housemate required to roll a die. The housemate with the lowest number would become the Benchwarmer. Bells rolled one, Yusuf and Sheba rolled two, Nomy rolled four, while Ricky and Aikou both rolled six. With the lowest number, Bells became the Benchwarmer once again.

Biggie also delivered major news to Flora and Aikou during the nomination process, officially releasing them from their roles as the Gambits and reinstating them as fully participating housemates. This means Flora and Aikou are now eligible to compete for the ultimate prize and could be nominated for possible eviction like the other housemates. After weeks of secret missions and uncertainty, the Gambit chapter is officially closed for both of them.

Biggie also introduced another nomination twist following repeated conversations about nominations, conspiracies and who should be saved. Big Brother announced that the usual saves would be nullified. As a result, only Head of House Abi and Most Influential Player of the Week Sheba are safe from possible eviction, while everyone else is up for possible eviction.
