President Joe Biden has reaffirmed his commitment to running against Donald Trump in the upcoming presidential election, despite a widely criticized debate performance.

Speaking with ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos on Friday evening, Biden, 81, addressed concerns about his cognitive health, attributing his poor debate showing to a “bad episode” caused by exhaustion and a severe cold.

Biden emphasized his daily cognitive challenges as president, stating, “Every day, I’ve had tests. Everything I do. I just had a bad night. I don’t know why.”

When quizzed about whether this was indicative of a deeper issue, Biden dismissed the notion and reiterated his qualifications to lead.

Despite a Reuters/Ipsos poll indicating that one in three Democrats believe Biden should step aside, the president remained resolute. “I don’t think anyone is more qualified,” he asserted, arguing that current polls were inaccurate.

Biden also addressed concerns about his impact on the re-election prospects of fellow Democrats, humorously suggesting he would consider stepping down if “the Lord Almighty” advised him to do so.

However, citizens have pointed out that the unedited 22-minute interview did little to allay concerns about Biden’s age and ability to serve another term.

In light of the development, some Democratic donors and leaders, including former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey, have expressed doubts about Biden’s health and urged him to reconsider his candidacy.

Healey, while acknowledging Biden’s significant achievements, advised the president to carefully evaluate his decision to run, emphasizing the need to listen to the American people.
