Bournemouth end Liverpool’s unbeaten run with 3–2 victory

Bournemouth ended Liverpool’s 13-match unbeaten run in the Premier League with a thrilling 3–2 victory at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday, sealed by Amine Adli’s stoppage-time winner.
The Cherries raced into a two-goal lead through Evanilson and Alex Jimenez, capitalising on defensive lapses by the visitors. Liverpool responded with goals from Virgil van Dijk and Dominik Szoboszlai to draw level, but Adli struck in the 95th minute to secure only Bournemouth’s second win in 15 league matches.
The result lifted Bournemouth to 13th on the table, moving them 10 points clear of the relegation zone, while the defeat is set to increase pressure on Liverpool manager Arne Slot, with the Reds likely to drop outside the top four after the weekend’s fixtures.
Liverpool dominated possession for much of the match but were punished for errors at the back. Van Dijk’s misplaced attempt to clear Marcos Senesi’s long ball allowed Alex Scott to cross for Evanilson to open the scoring. In the process, Joe Gomez was injured while trying to prevent the goal, further reducing Liverpool’s defensive options.
Bournemouth doubled their advantage soon after when Milos Kerkez was caught out, allowing Jimenez to slip in behind and score his first goal for the club. Van Dijk later made amends by heading in Szoboszlai’s corner to begin Liverpool’s comeback.
Szoboszlai then levelled the contest in the second half with a powerful strike into the far corner, setting up a frantic finale. Both sides had chances to win the game, with goalkeepers Alisson Becker and Djordje Petrovic producing key saves.
Just as the match appeared headed for a draw, Bournemouth pressed forward once more and were rewarded when Liverpool failed to clear a long throw, allowing Adli to fire home from a tight angle and spark jubilant celebrations among the home fans.
The loss leaves Liverpool winless in five league matches, despite recent progress in Europe, and raises fresh questions over their form and consistency in domestic competition.
