The former Oyo State First Lady, Dr. (Mrs.) Florence Ajimobi, has dismissed as fake a video circulating on social media in which she was allegedly seen making comments about the 2027 gubernatorial election to be a ‘war’.

In an official statement released on her social media handles on Saturday, Florence described the video as a fraudulent fabrication created using artificial intelligence technology, stressing that she never made the statements attributed to her.

She explained that a digital forensic review confirmed that the video is a deepfake, produced through generative AI tools that manipulated lip movements and cloned a voice to convey a scripted message.

She warned that the incident represents a dangerous misuse of artificial intelligence in the political space, noting that such “synthetic deception” could be deployed to mislead the public and undermine democratic discourse ahead of the 2027 elections.

She urged members of the public, media organisations, and security agencies to disregard the video and treat it as a malicious hoax, while calling for increased vigilance and verification of digital content before dissemination.

Reaffirming her commitment to truth and the democratic process, the statement added that she has reserved the right to pursue legal action against those responsible for creating and deliberately circulating the fraudulent video.
