BPP, Gombe partner to enhance digital procurement transparency

The Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), Dr. Adebowale A. Adedokun, has reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to enhancing digital procurement processes across Nigeria following a strategic meeting with the Director-General of Gombe State Due Process, Engr. Mohammed Dauda Abubakar.
During a working visit to the BPP headquarters in Abuja, Engr. Abubakar presented Gombe State’s latest innovations in digital procurement, highlighting the state’s newly developed website platform that provides real-time information on contracts and project execution.
He further showcased a mobile application integrated with a dashboard that enables interactive project tracking and assessment, allowing users to view ongoing projects across various states. According to him, these digital tools are designed to improve transparency and efficiency in public procurement while addressing previous shortcomings in procurement processes.
In response, Dr. Adebowale praised Gombe State’s advancements, noting that such innovations could serve as a model for procurement monitoring nationwide.
He also emphasized the need for a national advocacy initiative, suggesting that BPP officials visit Gombe State to brief the governor, State Executive Council, and House of Assembly on modern procurement practices.
Dr. Adebowale further disclosed that BPP is developing a national procurement portal that will provide stakeholders with a comprehensive view of all public projects in the country. He noted that the innovations pioneered by Gombe State could be integrated into this system, particularly in community-based procurement and project monitoring.
Both agencies reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration and leveraging digital tools to improve procurement efficiency and transparency across Nigeria.
