The Students’ Union of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), has confirmed the death of the prime suspect linked to the gruesome killing of two students, following a high-level meeting with the Ondo State Commissioner of Police.

In a statement signed by the Students’ Union President, Comrade Akeem Salami Ologbon, the union disclosed that its leadership met with the Commissioner of Police in Akure to seek updates on the ongoing investigation.

“In a bid to verify the widely circulating reports, and with due clearance, the Union delegation visited the mortuary and confirmed beyond doubt that the remains belonged to the prime suspect—thereby putting speculations to rest,” the statement read.

The meeting also had in attendance representatives of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), including the Deputy Coordinator of the South-West Zone, Comrade ARAB, and the newly elected Chairman of the NANS Joint Campus Committee (JCC), Ondo Axis, Comrade INEC, alongside other student leaders.

The Union explained that the meeting was a follow-up to an earlier ultimatum issued to the police, demanding transparency and swift action in the investigation into the murder of the two AAUA students.

As part of its engagement, the student delegation visited the Special Anti-Kidnapping Squad, where two other suspects are being held. The Union confirmed that the suspects in custody match the individuals whose photographs have been circulating in the media.

Providing insight into the suspect’s death, the Union quoted the Commissioner of Police as saying that the deceased had been in and out of the hospital since his arrest due to a mysterious illness, which may have contributed to his demise.
