The Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, has rescued eight persons abducted by suspected kidnappers in separate incidents across the state.
Among the victims were residents of Ilado Community in Akure North Local Government Area, where gunmen reportedly stormed the area and forcefully took several people to an unknown location.
One of those rescued, Fagbonmire Durojaiye, a pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God and a teacher, had sparked concern among community members and church congregants following his abduction.
The kidnappers were said to have demanded N30 million as ransom for the victims’ release, heightening fears among their families and loved ones.
However, the Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeley, disclosed that the captives regained their freedom without any ransom payment.
According to him, operatives acted on credible intelligence and traced the suspects to their hideout, leading to a gun duel between security personnel and the kidnappers.
He said the assailants fled the scene during the confrontation, allowing the operatives to rescue all eight victims safely.
The commander praised the bravery of the operatives involved in the mission and assured residents that efforts were underway to arrest the fleeing suspects, while security surveillance had been strengthened in affected communities.
