BREAKING: Another Osun lawmaker quits PDP, cites internal crisis
By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
Hon. Taofeek Abimbola Ajilesoro, the member representing Ife Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing internal conflicts and persistent legal disputes within the party.
In a resignation letter dated July 22, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman in Ilare Ward II, Ife Central Local Government Area of Osun State, Ajilesoro stated that his decision followed deep reflection and consideration.
“This decision, though difficult, has become necessary due to the persistent internal conflicts, deep-seated divisions, and the pervasive culture of legal disputes that have unfortunately come to characterize the party,” he wrote.
He added that these challenges have made it increasingly difficult to align his personal convictions and governance aspirations with continued membership of the PDP.
Ajilesoro, who chairs the House Committee on the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), thanked the PDP for the platform to serve and expressed hope that his resignation would be accepted in good faith.
Copies of the resignation letter were also forwarded to the PDP National Working Committee, the Osun State Working Committee, and the Ife Central Local Government chapter.
His departure follows recent resignations by Senators Francis Fadahunsi and Olubiyi Fadeyi, highlighting the deepening crisis within the Osun PDP.
With Ajilesoro’s exit, the party has now lost two senators and two House of Representatives members—Hon. Wole Oke and Hon. Taofeek Ajilesoro—in recent months.
