BREAKING: Court halts APC state congress in Ondo

By Boye Oyeyemi

The Federal High Court sitting in Akure has halted the planned state congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) scheduled for Tuesday in Ondo State.

While presiding over court proceedings, Justice Toyin Bolaji Adegoke issued an ex parte order, filed by Adedayo Adedeji (SAN), restraining both the Independent National Electoral Commission and the APC from proceeding with the exercise.

Western Post recalls that the party had earlier announced March 3 as the date for the congress through its state Publicity Secretary, Alex Kalejaye.

In her ruling, Justice Adegoke granted an interim injunction stopping INEC and the APC, including their officers and representatives, from recognising or validating the ward and local government congresses conducted on February 18 and 21, 2026.

The court also barred the party from holding the proposed state congress or any related exercise pending the determination of the motion on notice seeking an interlocutory injunction.

Justice Adegoke subsequently adjourned the case to March 26 for the hearing of the substantive suit.
