BREAKING: Former Ondo Gov Mimiko joins APC

Former Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress alongside thousands of his supporters.

The development was disclosed in a statement signed by Olawale Ijanusi, the specialist assistant on New Media to the Ondo State APC Chairman, on Thursday.

According to the statement, the Ondo State Chairman of the APC, Kolawole Babatunde, described Mimiko’s defection as a significant gain capable of strengthening the party’s grassroots structure across the state.

Babatunde said the former governor, popularly called the “Great Iroko,” remains one of the influential political figures in Ondo State whose experience and support base would further enhance the party’s fortunes.

“We are delighted to receive Dr. Mimiko into the APC family. His wealth of political experience and leadership capacity will further strengthen our party and contribute to the development of Ondo State,” the APC chairman said.

He added that Mimiko’s decision to align with the APC reflected increasing confidence in the leadership of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

In his remarks, Mimiko thanked the leadership of the party for receiving him and pledged to contribute to the unity, peace and growth of the APC in Ondo State and across the country.

The event was attended by party leaders, youths, women groups and stakeholders from different parts of Ondo Kingdom, who gathered to welcome the former governor and his loyalists into the APC.
