BREAKING: Gunmen reportedly abduct five worshippers in Ondo

By Boye Oyeyemi –

Five worshippers have been abducted by suspected kidnappers who attacked a church in Uso, Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Uso, a community situated along the Akure–Owo highway, was reportedly thrown into panic on Tuesday when gunmen invaded the church premises during a religious activity and seized the victims.

Sources within the community disclosed that the assailants stormed the church unexpectedly and forcibly took away five congregants to an unknown destination.

It was gathered, however, that one of the abducted persons managed to escape from the kidnappers shortly after the incident, although the circumstances surrounding the escape remain unclear.

As of the time of filing this report, details about the identity of the affected church, as well as the condition and whereabouts of the remaining victims, were still sketchy.

Efforts to obtain official confirmation from security agencies were ongoing, while residents expressed growing concern over rising insecurity along the Akure–Owo axis.
