BREAKING: Jonathan, Obi hold closed-door meeting ahead of 2027 elections

Former President Goodluck Jonathan and former Anambra State governor Peter Obi on Monday held a closed-door meeting as part of ongoing political consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Although details of the meeting were not publicly disclosed, it is believed to be part of efforts to strengthen opposition collaboration in the run-up to the polls.
The mobilisation wing of the African Democratic Congress, known as ADC Vanguard, shared videos and images of the meeting on social media, describing the engagement as high-level discussions.

According to the group, the talks centred on the possibility of opposition parties presenting a single presidential candidate in the next election cycle.
Obi was accompanied by a delegation that included Igbo elders, ADC senators from the South-East, and other political associates.

The meeting comes amid intensified political consultations by Obi across the country, as well as reports of a possible alliance with Rabiu Kwankwaso, a former Kano State governor and key figure in the ADC coalition.
It also follows a recent national summit of opposition parties held in Ibadan, where leaders discussed strategies for uniting against the ruling party ahead of 2027.
The summit, hosted by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and chaired by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, resolved to work towards presenting a consensus presidential candidate and strengthening cooperation among opposition groups.
