The Kwara State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its sustained fight against violent crime with the arrest of suspected armed robbers and cult members operating within the Amoyo axis of Ilorin.

Following a report received on April 19, 2026, at the Amoyo Division concerning an armed robbery incident at Kabba Kajola Junction, swift, intelligence-driven operations led to the arrest of Abdulazeez Isiaq, alias “Pumpin,” and Rilwan Mohammed.

The arrests were disclosed in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, on Monday in Ilorin.

According to the statement, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects assaulted their victims and forcefully took them to an uncompleted building used as a hideout, where they threatened to kill them and dispossessed them of valuables, including an iPhone 13, a Samsung A2S, and other personal effects.

The statement further noted that a locally made pistol and one of the stolen phones were subsequently recovered from the suspects, who have reportedly confessed to the crime.

Ejire-Adeyemi added that further investigations at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) confirmed that the suspects are members of the notorious Eiye Confraternity, which has been linked to several cases of armed robbery and cult-related killings in Ilorin and its environs, describing the principal suspect, Abdulazeez Isiaq, as a known criminal figure, noting that his arrest has significantly disrupted criminal activities in the area.

According to the statement, the suspects will be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations, while the Command assured residents of its continued commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.
