BREAKING: Newly appointed Shooting Stars coach, Olowookere, dies in training

By Tosin Omojola –

A newly appointed coach of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), Akin Olowookere, has died.

According to reports, the former Sunshine Stars of Akure player collapsed on the pitch during the team’s Monday morning training session in Ijebu-Ode and was rushed to the hospital.

He was, however, confirmed dead on arrival.

Witnesses said Olowookere went down while in action, attracting immediate medical attention before being taken to the hospital.

Olowookere was recently unveiled as one of the coaches of the Oluyole Warriors following the club’s decision to part ways with the Gbenga Ogunbote-led coaching crew.

The soft-spoken gaffer was a long-time player for Sunshine Stars of Akure before transitioning into coaching.

He most recently served as an assistant coach under former Sunshine Stars head coach, Edith Agoye.
