By Kunle Sanni –

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, and Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, have reached a truce following a midnight meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday.

The meeting was convened to resolve the lingering political crisis rocking Rivers State and to restore peace and stability to the state’s governance.

It would be recalled that President Tinubu, on March 18, 2025, declared a state of emergency in Rivers State over escalating political tensions and security threats, including pipeline vandalism.

In the aftermath, Governor Fubara, his deputy Ngozi Odu, and all elected members of the Rivers State House of Assembly were suspended for six months.

The rift between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who is now FCT Minister, had plunged the state into months of political turmoil.

Sources at the meeting confirmed that both parties agreed to cease hostilities and chart a new course for peace in the state.

President Tinubu was said to have emphasized the need for unity, stability, and the rule of law, urging both leaders to prioritize the interest of Rivers residents.
