…to address Nigerians in National Assembly

President Bola Tinubu will not deliver a traditional presidential national broadcast as part of the 2025 Democracy Day celebrations scheduled for June 12.
According to an official update released by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), the change is due to the president’s scheduled appearance at a joint session of the National Assembly.
Imohiosen noted that Tinubu will instead deliver his Democracy Day address from the National Assembly chambers.
“Due to H.E. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, scheduled attendance at the National Assembly Joint Session, the Presidential National Broadcast on June 12 has been cancelled,” the statement said.
The theme for this year’s Democracy Day is “Consolidating on the Gains of Nigeria’s Democracy: Necessity of Enduring Reforms.”
Other events planned to mark the 26th anniversary of Nigeria’s return to democratic rule are expected to proceed as previously announced.
