Vice President Kashim Shettima declared open the 68th UN Tourism Commission for Africa meeting in Abuja on Wednesday.
The Vice President represented President Bola Tinubu at the opening ceremony of the summit that brought together 51 Ministers of Tourism in Africa and development partners. The summit will hold in Abuja for 3 days.

At the opening event were Ministers of Finance Wale Edun, Minister of State For Finance Doris Uzoka-Anite, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga among other senior government officials.
Vice President Shettima wrote:

“On behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I today declared open the 68th meeting of the UN Tourism Commission for Africa (CAF), holding at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.

“Delivering the President’s remarks, I called on African countries to adopt policies that promote eco-friendly tourism and preserve cultural heritage across the continent.
“Specifically, I urged stakeholders to seek practical solutions and forge alliances that would boost investment in tourism infrastructure and deepen the sector’s role in actualising the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on the African continent.

“I also reaffirmed Nigeria’s support for the adoption of sustainable tourism practices across Africa, which, I noted, must reflect the continent’s unique challenges.”
