BREAKING: Tinubu departs Paris for Lagos
President Bola Tinubu has departed Paris, France, for Nigeria after ending his working vacation, with his aircraft expected to land in Lagos later on Tuesday.
Tinubu chose to travel to Lagos first to honour the memory of the late Chief MKO Abiola, widely recognised as the winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election and a prominent figure in Nigeria’s democratic struggle.
The President is expected to attend the premiere of a movie celebrating Abiola on October 1, Nigeria’s Independence Day, at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos.
While in Lagos, Tinubu will also hold meetings with political leaders and associates as part of preparations for the 2027 elections.
The President departed Abuja on August 30 for his working vacation, spending a week in London before proceeding to Paris.
In Paris, Tinubu attended a private dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron and held meetings with business leaders, including Vincent Bolloré of the Bolloré Group, whose media and digital interests include Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music Group.
He also met the Chairman of First Holdings, Femi Otedola, on Monday.
Last week, Tinubu witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ogun State Government and DP World for the development of a deep seaport at Ogun Waterside and the establishment of a Blue Marine Economic Zone.
