Nigeria secures 10,000 additional Hajj slots for 2027

Nigeria has secured an additional 10,000 slots for the 2027 Hajj pilgrimage, increasing the country’s total allocation from 50,000 to 60,000.

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) announced this in a statement signed by its Head of Information and Publications Division, Shafii Sani Mohammed.

The commission said the additional allocation followed sustained high-level diplomatic engagements between the Federal Government and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

It said 7,500 of the additional slots had been allocated to State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards, Agencies and Commissions, while 2,500 slots would go to seven lead tour operator companies.

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NAHCON, Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf, expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for the Federal Government’s support for the Hajj sector and the welfare of Nigerian pilgrims.

Yusuf also thanked the Saudi authorities for the additional allocation, describing it as a reflection of the cordial relationship between the two countries.

He said, “The additional allocation further reflects the cordial and longstanding relations between Nigeria and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as the close cooperation between the two countries in facilitating the Hajj journey of Nigerian pilgrims.”

The NAHCON chairman assured Nigerians that the additional slots would be administered transparently and in accordance with applicable Nigerian and Saudi Arabian regulations.

He said, “The additional allocation will be administered judiciously, transparently and in full compliance with applicable Nigerian and Saudi Arabian regulations and operational requirements.”
