‘I’m healthy and sound’ — Tinubu dismisses health rumours

President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday returned to Nigeria after about four weeks abroad, declaring that he was “healthy and sound” and ready to resume work.

Tinubu made the declaration shortly after arriving at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, where he was received by senior government officials and political leaders.

The President was responding to questions about concerns over his health, which he dismissed as politically motivated rumours.

“Ready to kick, ready to work, there is nothing wrong… Rumour will always be emanating from politics, but the fact remains I’m here, healthy and sound and ready to go,” he said.

Asked about his time away from the country, Tinubu said he enjoyed the period, which began in London before he proceeded to Paris, France.

Western Post reported that the President’s return was witnessed by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Deputy Governor and All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Obafemi Hamzat; Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq; Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and other dignitaries.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, who was also at the airport, said Tinubu’s period of rest would enable him to return with renewed energy to drive the administration’s agenda.

“It is incredibly nice to have him after one month away, and we believe that the days he has spent resting will translate into more action this time around,” Abbas said.

“We believe that he will come with renewed vigour, a renewed hope to continue serving the good people of Nigeria.”
