Buhari confers national honours on Emefiele, Oluremi Tinubu, Emeka Anyaoku, Osoba, others
President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the conferment of national honours on some prominent Nigerians and friends of Nigeria.
The list, which includes prominent names, has one recipient of the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON), 23 for Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR), 75 for Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON),78 for Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR) and 85 for the Officer of the Order of the Niger, (OON).
It also includes 53 for Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR), 22 for Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) and three for Federal Republic Medal 1 (MFR1)
Former Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Chief Emeka Anyaoku bagged the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON). Incoming 1st First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu got the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) award, while Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele was conferred with CFR.
The President also bestowed national honours on former Governors of Osun State, Chief Bisi Akande, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola and Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba just as Alhaji Mamman Daura was honoured with CFR
Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Prince Clem Ikanade Agba, was conferred with the Commander of the Order of Niger (CON).
Others are Chairman, Access Holdings, Herbert Onyewumbu Wigwe (CFR), His Royal Majesty, Attah Igala, Mathew Alaji Opaluwa Oguche Akpa (CFR), Sunday Ibrahim Ameh SAN (OFR) and Managing Director of Nation Newspapers, Victor Ifijeh (OON), among others
The list which was signed by Ibiene P. Roberts, Permanent Secretary, FMSDIGA, advised all recipients to send hard and soft copies of their citations/resumes to the Secretary, National Honours Awards Committee, Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, after which they get to FMSDIGA office for collection of their certificates and Medals on June 1, 2023.
