‘Buhari, Malami committed to APC ahead of 2027’ —Gov Sule

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has debunked rumours that former President Muhammadu Buhari and former Attorney-General Abubakar Malami are planning to exit the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking at a grand reception in Lafia for the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Labaran Magaji, Governor Sule addressed growing speculation that key figures from the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) bloc feel marginalized under the Bola Tinubu administration and are considering defection.

“There is nothing like CPC leaving APC,” Sule stated. “Our father, former President Muhammadu Buhari, is CPC. And wherever he stands, CPC stands. He’s not going anywhere—and neither are the 12 million voters he carries with him.”

The governor also shut down claims that Malami may be plotting an exit from the ruling party, saying detractors trying to “steal good products from APC” would not succeed.

“Malami is going nowhere. We are building this house together,” Sule said.

Earlier in April, APC chieftain Osita Okechukwu also dismissed defection claims, affirming that the CPC bloc remains committed to Tinubu and the party’s long-term goals.
