Burna Boy says Nigerians won’t fill up any stadium

By Tosin Brown

Nigerian global music star Burna Boy has expressed the opinion that Nigerians won’t fill up any stadium in any part of the world.

The Grammy-winning singer shared the statement on his Instagram Story while advising fellow artists in the Nigerian music industry.

In a seemingly unprovoked post, he wrote:
“Dear artists, don’t let Twitter polls and ‘Naija social media fans’ deceive you. They won’t fill up any stadium for you in any part of the world.”

He continued:
“1,000,000 Nigerian streams = $300/$400
1,000,000 UK streams = £3,000/£4,000
1,000,000 U.S. streams = $3,000/$4,000
1,000,000 Euro streams = €3,000/€4,000

Your song being number one on any streaming platform in Nigeria is not something to celebrate. Aim higher or do other businesses on the side. I type with love. #NoSignofWeakness.”

The post has generated mixed reactions from fans and followers of the Nigerian music scene.

While some accused Burna Boy of constantly shaming and speaking ill of his country, others suggested it was a strategic move ahead of his upcoming album release.
