Businessman petitions EFCC over alleged $2.1m deal involving Wike’s son

A businessman, Safwan Garba, and his company, GY Global Oil & Gas Nigeria Limited, have petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over an alleged $2.1m fraud involving Jordan Nyesom-Wike, son of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The petitioners accused Jordan of allegedly collecting $2.1m after claiming he could facilitate the allocation of 60 hectares of land in Abuja with his father’s knowledge and approval.

In the petition dated December 11, 2025, and signed by their lawyer, Hamza Dantani, the claimants alleged that Jordan promised to secure 30 hectares each in Katampe and Guzape districts of the FCT.

They alleged that Jordan demanded $2m, purportedly to be delivered to his father to facilitate the allocations, while another $100,000 was paid as his personal facilitation fee.

According to the petition, the payments were made in cash on October 17, 2025, at Jordan’s insistence, in the presence of two witnesses, Adamu Sani and Aliyu Sarki.

The petitioners further alleged that Jordan called his father on the telephone in Garba’s presence to reinforce his claim that the proposed transaction had the minister’s backing.

“Our client met Jordan Nyesom-Wike in London, following which the two developed a rapport,” the petition stated.

It added that Jordan later met Garba in Nigeria and offered to facilitate the acquisition of the land, assuring him that he routinely handled such transactions and had his father’s approval.
